It’s pretty hard to believe but there are 3 oceanfront homes for sale on the beachfront street of Paseo De La Playa in the Hollywood Riviera. Although some need extensive updating all three could be considered “once in a lifetime” type properties with massive property that extends all the way to the beach.
Although both have been on the market in recent years it’s rare to see two such unique beachfront “legacy” type properties on the market at the same time. As of 12/18 there are 2 homes for sale on the oceanfront street of Paseo De La Playa in the Hollywood Riviera. These are two of the highest priced properties ever (the record was set by one of the neighboring homes) and both are “legacy” type properties with incredible potential and very large lots that extend down to the beach below. Paseo De La Playa is one of the best streets in all of the South Bay. The luxury homes on the bluff offer it all……unblockable oceanfront location, huge lots that extend to the beach, privacy not seen in the beach cities, and proximity to beach, shopping, dining and more. Here’s a brief rundown on some of the homes that are active, pending and sold over the past few years.
The latest beachfront offering, located at 529 Paseo De La Playa never even made it to the market before selling. This was a fairly original home but was unique in a few ways including the extensive work done to the hillside allowing for a permitted walkway down to the beach.
The home itself has lots of potential and a great flat backyard area with incredible views. The home hit the market at $5,800,000 and offered 4 bedrooms, 3 baths and just under 3,200 square feet of living space on a huge (although typical for the homes on the west side of the street) 22,000 foot lot that extends down to the sand.
This is one of our absolute favorite locations in the South Bay.
We always get excited when a home comes on the market on Paseo De La Playa. In our opinion this is one of the top 2 or 3 streets in all of the South Bay, Beach Cities and Palos Verdes. There is nowhere other than a few homes in PV that offer beachfront/oceanfront locations with huge coastline views. What this means is that when the sun goes down you have equally stunning views as during the day. The unique homes along Paseo De La Playa sit on huge lots that extend all the way to the beach. Some are too high up to really have access while others were able to add paths granted by the California Coastal Commission (which is very challenging) The few homes and lots furthest north are on the lowest part of the bluff so they can build bigger with more amenities. The home at 425 Paseo De La Playa is one of them. While definitely a bit dated the location is tough to beat and will make a true legacy home for some lucky buyer than can afford the price tage of such a unique property.
